Tahai Lake



The Lake is located in the village of Tahai, the municipality of Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan province. The Lake is located approximately 30 km from the city of Palangkaraya heading into the area ofSampit. The word itself is derived from the Tahai Dayak meaning Lake.

Based on a story developing in communities surrounding there are 2 versions that develop on asal-muasalnya Lake. The first version States that it was formed because the Tahai Lake accumulation of standing water at the site of the mining of sand. While the second version is due to changes in river flow Kahayan, resulting in standing water that does not follow the flow of the river. However, from the second version until today there is no official data about the formation of Lake Tahai.

Indeed in the area of Borneo, there is an awful lot of the Lake. But most of the public prefer the Tahai Lake as one its goals. This is because in this Lake has some distinction of on other lakes in the region of Borneo. The privilege is a Lake has a different water color is red. Based on the research results, the red color is formed because water comes from a ground water peat and tree roots in the peat. Another privilege isthe scenery around the Lake a very riveting because the tourists can see the unique views, that is, a view of the floating homes by surrounding communities called houses down.

The location of the Lake is indeed a little bit get into, about 3 km from the edge of the highway. But tourists need not worry, because to get to the location could havebeen quite easily. Tourists can use the public transportation in the form of a bus heading for Sampit purpose Palangkaraya was down in the village and then walk to theTahai site Lake Tahai. In addition to public transport, visitors also can get a locationwith a private two-wheel or four wheel. Access is very easy because the road to tourism have been paved and pretty good.
