Kahayan Bridge (Icon Palangka Raya City)



Kahayan bridge is a landmark (icon) of the city of Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan Province. Palangkaraya is the largest city in Indonesia with an area of approximately 2678 square km. Kahayan River bisecting the Kahayan bridge and connects the city of Palangkaraya with 4 districts: South Barito Regency, East Barito, Murung Jaya and Northern Borneo. Despite the inauguration of the bridge was conducted on January 13, 2002 by President Megawati Sukarnoputri at that time, but the construction of the Kahayan Bridge started in 1995 and was completed in 2001.

The bridge along the 640 m and a width of 9 meters has red bows along the span of150 m and a height of 36 m which is just above the Kahayan River cruise lines. In addition to transportation, the bridge is also widely used by local residents as a place to hang-out on the edge of the bridge while looking like the Kahayan River activities:fro fishermen looking for fish, paddle athletes practicing under the bridge or just simply enjoy the Kahayan river views from the top of the bridge. Many traders also are available and kept peddling above the bridge.


Kahayan bridge is a bridge that divides the city of Palangkaraya in the Kahayan River, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. The bridge has a length of 640 meters wide and 9 meters, consisting of 12 landscape with special landscape along the 150 meters on the Groove cruise of the river.

The bridge was first built in 1995 and was completed in 2001, and was inauguratedby President Megawati Sukarnoputri on January 13, 2002. Kahayan bridge connects downtown Palangkaraya with Wards Pahandut Opposite and translucent to the District Home of the knife, Mt. Mas, Kapuas, Barito Selatan, Barito Utara, and more.

Kahayan bridge can be reached very easily because it is only about 1 km from the Centre of the city of Palangkaraya. You can walk to the bridge from the city of Palangkaraya Kahayan while enjoying the view of the city of Palangkaraya along the way.
